School Break!!! Err, I Mean...For Them

If I had known how easy to make this so called English muffins, I would have done it hundreds of times. All you've got to do is mix everything together and then, walla! Fresh, aromatic and absolutely delicious muffins on your breakfast table in no time at all...*well, if you don't count the rising time... ^_^*

Go dig it!!

English Muffins
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 1/3 cups of hot milk
  • 1 Tbsp shortening
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt

  1. Mix both flour + yeast in a bowl with a whisk and set aside
  2. In another bowl, combine the rest of the ingredients and stir till everything has melted. Let the mixture cool slightly
  3. Add the liquid into the flour mixture, stir everything thoroughly. You should have a wet dough/batter. Then let it sit for 1 hour or till doubled in size
  4. Now, heat your girdle on a low heat. Melt a teaspoon of butter to grease it.
  5. Using a tablespoon, scoop one heaping spoonful of the batter and plop it on the girdle. Cook for 5 minutes, flip it with a spatula and cook another 5 minutes
  6. Transfer the cooked muffins on towel lined plate. Halved the muffins, and enjoy it with butter and jam! I toasted the muffins till crispy then lather with butter and kaya. Yummy! :D

* Usually this muffins were cooked in a ring mold. I don't have it, so I just roughly rounded the batter with spoon

*  One heaping spoonful is roughly about 1/3 cup
