Rainy Day Project
When the weather gets cold and grey, what's best is to stay at home and bake cookies! Nothing so fancy... The baking project is to while away the time, so don't make yourselves sweat over it. The cookies will be simple enough to do and surely delicious for snacking around. Now let get started!

Cookie Disaster: Part 2
There are some things that not all people can do. Some people are gifted with certain talents. While others are not-so-gifted. Like me. I just found out that detail works which requires extra attention and time are really not my forte. I was lousy at detailing. O_o
Remember the first icing cookies I made? Seriously, I envied those who can make the beautiful icing-decorated cookies. They all make it look so easy! I tried to be patient. Yeah, it lasted for at least ten cookies. Then I just, what-the-heck-it-just-cookies and let go of my control. Hence the terrible handiwork...

Coddling a Cookie Monster
I had this situation often. Cookie craving.
No, scratch that. Make it chocolate chips cookie craving.
The thing is, making chocolate chip cookies requires a large pan (in my house) plus tremendous (if you're not in the mood or just lazy) labor to scoop up the cookie dough onto the baking sheet. For once, I'm not up to it.
So how to fix that? Easy as a pea!
Just dump the whole thing in the pan and bake them all together!
^_^ And to make it a lot more EASIER, ask someone else to do the whole thing for you a.k.a your sister. Now hit on for the rest of it!

Crunchy Factor!
My little sister was home over the weekend. So the day was like a blur of activities with early cooking, some shopping, and a lot of baking. Earlier this month, we already sent her a couple of jars filled with oatmeal crisps. Should have expected that there'll be a new request from her to bring back to college.
Her request:
something that's like a cookie but has a longer shelf-life. Only one thing that came to my mind.
Biscotti.
My little brother asked, pointing at the baked biscotti : What's this?
My dad : Biskut (biscuits) and roti (bread). *Fairly certain that the name was a combo of the two! Notice the bold words*
Me : No lah... *And I gave them a short lecture (hah!) of what biscotti is..* ^_^

The One That Didn't Break
Have you ever wish that you could turn back time?
That's how I felt while baking these sweet little treats one week before Eid. I'm pretty sure some of you are familiar with it. These sweet cookies that will melt in your mouth is called Kuih Bangkit. I have no idea why it was named as it is. But this is the first time that I attempted making it.

Cookie Comforts
One thing that always get to me at any time of the day is chocolate. I believe I've said this at least hundredth times already, but I need to say it again. I-Love-Chocolate. Period. And just the thought of it could make my mouth water...

Fulfilling A Request : Fruity Scones
I've got a request early yesterday morning. Through a phone call. You might have guess whose on the line, but I tell you anyway. It was from my sister *who else?!*, no doubt. Quoting her from our conversation: "Angah, I want scones. Not the chocolate chip one, but the one with fruits. And make them small and many. Please..."

Baking Project : Baked by Daisy
Nine hundred and eighty. That's the number of cookies I made last weekend. And that's what kept me so busy and excited. It started when my friend asked me if I want to join a bake sale. I have never join anything like this, so I said why not. I never knew the works were so consuming, I felt like back in college doing design!

Birthday Boy : A Macaron Story
Yesterday was my younger brother's birthday, and I've told myself to make something out of the league *at least out of MY league*. It was not another cake or another cupcakes like I made last year which turned out so great with his friends. And of course not another chocolate chip cookies. Remember I told you I'll challenge myself to make something more elaborate in the effort department? Well, this one sure exerts every ounce of my concentration and patience!

Secret Little Party
Shh...I just tell you this once. Don't tell anyone okay? Well...when I was cleaning up the mess I made after baking some treats for the whole family, I heard a few whispered words. I can't make up what been said though. So I just followed the voices until I saw something that really surprised me. And guess what I found?

Hot and Cold
I need a quick fix of cookies and chocolate. But it's a bit hot today, and I don't want to melt in my kitchen. Plus, I want them without the hassles and could be done within 15 minutes. For that, I come to this. A real easy, guaranteed satisfaction *for me at least*, but had to wait for it to firm up. No biggie for me. I just need to be patient *tough!*
Well, after counting every minute on the clock; here is the awaited freezer cookies! The recipe was given by a close friend of mine, Z, way back during my high school days. It has always been a crowd pleaser... ^_^
Usually, I don't measure the ingredients. I just used whatever I have, and adjusted the crackers to accommodate the chocolate mixture.
The cookies look a little bit dry here cause I put in too much crackers. You could reduce the amount of crackers if you like it to have more chocolate. Nonetheless, these are still as good!
Easy Freezer Cookies
- Cake pan /cookie sheet *lined with cling wrap or parchment paper with overhang*
- 1 packet of crackers of your choice, crushed *I use Marie crackers, coffee flavor. About 40+ pieces*
- 250 g butter, cut into 8 pieces
- 1 tin of condensed milk
- 4 heaping Tbsp cocoa powder
- Heat a medium pan on low heat, melt the butter. careful not to let the butter browned
- Once 80% of the butter has melted, put in condensed milk and cocoa powder. stir to incorporate
- Remove from heat and stir in all crushed crackers, folding to coat the pieces with chocolate mixture
- Put in prepared pan, cover with cling wrap and pressed tightly with your hand so that the cookie pieces stick together*i divide mine into two 9 inch rectangle cake pan*
- Let it cool down in room temperature, then transfer to the fridge for at least 1-2 hours
- Cut with a sharp knife to serve

little ones
i had some leftover cookie dough stashed in the fridge. good thing is my dad craved for some so i just made them into mini sized cookies. he likes it better small, as for the rest of us didn't mind the size as long as it's chocolate chip cookies. crispy outside, slightly soft and chewy inside. yeap, he likes this one best! ^_^

It Takes Two
You've already known my obsession of bread. now, it's another revelation. I'm a huge cookie monster. Whenever there's a good home baked cookies stashed somewhere in the cupboard, it's hard not to get more of it whilst I have already downed like three pieces of it. mind you, it is NOT mini size cookies. And I'm not the only cookie monster at home. While it's already hard to get my hands from diving into the cookie jar, defending it from my little brother and sisters are even harder.
Just look, how can we resist the temptation of chocolate chip cookies loaded with of course chocolate chips and nuts? And how can we stay away from chewy oatmeal cookies studded with lots of chocolate and raisins? Even saying the names can cause a craving! much more when you know it's tucked nice and pretty somewhere in the house.@_@ It is mind boggling...
See the difference between the two cookies? As i typed this, my mind already process the texture, the taste...And ahhh, the smell people! Heavens... I.Want.One.Right.Now.
When you can't refrain yourself of these sugary treats, it is mandatory to work off all the excess calories by exercise regularly. Good thing is we all love sweating ourselves, walking in the morning together... It's our family routine. Enjoying the cool morning walk, soothing morning breeze and of course the scenery! ;-)

cookie disaster
this is my first attempt in making decorative cookies. i might say that it won't do really well. first, the cookies not all that perfect. some are slightly burnt.
i need to adjust the time every now and then. for the frosting part...here goes. it was a bit too runny, you can see that some are quite transparent. my mistake for adding too much milk. duh...and to make it worst, i use liquid food coloring while the icing not even set yet.
how dumb is that, yeah...i know. nevertheless, i'll keep on trying perfecting my skill on this. mark my word.
