I had nothing to do yesterday and was bored. Then I looked into my unorganized recipe box for something I haven't try my hands on before and I came up with this. A simple butterscotch sauce that will add extra deliciousness to any ice cream or pancakes or whatever you have in mind... ^_^
This-Is-So-Easy Butterscotch Sauce:
Adapted from Washington Post. Originally from The Perfect Cake
- 1/2 stick unsalted butter ( 4 tbsp)
- 1/2 cup light or dark brown sugar *I used light*
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- a pinch of salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Melt butter in a small heavy bottom pan
- Add sugar + cream + salt and mix until blended, stirring occasionally. Cooked over low heat for about 5 minutes
- Remove from heat and add vanilla. Stir to combine. You can adjust the salt and vanilla according to your preferences. Can be serve warm or cold but the sauce will thickens as it cool. You may reheat it in the microwave for a few seconds to melt it back. Store refrigerated in an air tight container.
